The Olympic spirit in my eyes
We all know that the Olympic spirit is “Mutual understanding, friendship, unity and fair play”,but not all the people can understand its real meaning. When I thought about it over and over again,I realized how great the Olympics are!
In 1896, thanks to the great efforts of Frenchman Pierre de Coubertin, Dimitrios Vikelas, and other contributors, the first Modern Olympic Games were held in the country of their birth. From then, the Olympic Games have traveled to countries all around the world , attracted the eyes of billions, therefore the Olympic spirit was known by people all over the world.Today, let’s share my understanding of the Olympic spirit!
First,I think the Olympic spirit symbolize peace, harmonization and friendship. So in my opinion, the Olympics are not only big sport events, but also peaceful competitions, it help promote a better and more peaceful world. because the Olympics can improve the everyone in the world’s friendship. For example,China will hold the Olympics this year.At that momemt, people all over the world will enjoy a nice get-together in China,we stand hand in hand, and we sing ,we dance,we talk to each other. No matter you are white or black, you speak Chinese or English,we are equal and we get on well,You can imagine how harmosphere it is.
So,I think the Olympics are pure,we should respect the Olympic spirit, especially the athletes. The Olympic oath encourages athletes, coaches, and officials to observe the rules and to follow the spirit of sportsmanship ,so taking drugs before the Games is considered cheating and against sportsmanship. But for winning the game, some athletes runs risks to taking drugs, such as Marion Jones, they are doomed to be punished and we can’t be the same as them.We should learn from liu xiang, the famous running star in China,he broken the world record last year but it depended on his perfect ability and stills.
Second, The most important thing is to participate.
Eric,a swimmer from The Republic of Equatorial Guinea, had trained for only 9 months when he took part in the Sydney Olympics in 2008.Even he had not seen the Olympic standard swimming pool before.Because of his unregular movements, even though he did his utmost,he swam slowly, but he didn’t give up his race.In his oppinion,he was swimming for his motherland. He was proud of being the only athlete in his own country coming to sydney and he must try his best to catch the chance showing how great his moterland is!I think he was greater than all the champions!
Aherwary,a running athlete from Mexco, took part in Mexco Olympics in 1968.He was confidentbefore when the race began. But after running across 19km,he sliped up and his right leg was injerd. But he didn’t give up.After being binded up simplely,he ran again. Then,he finished the race with too many difficulties four and a harf hours later. After the race, the interviewer asked him why he had not given up continuing, what he said impressed the world---“My motherland let me cross 7000km here, not for seeing me begin the race, just for seeing me finish the race.”
Their experiences tell us what is perseverance, so,I believe that the Olympic spirit includes “Never give up!”
Have you ever heard the Olympic motto?Yeah,it is "Faster, Higher, Stronger."Every athlete improve because of the competition.many athletes broken the world record in the Olympics. They make sports develope, they are the true heroes!
These days, the torch of Beijing Olympics is being passed. And do you know why we pass the Olympic torch? The purpose of passing the Olympic torch by way of relay was to spread the Olympic spirit and make the seeds of peace and friendship root, grow, bloom and bear fruits in more countries.
Beijing will hold the Olympics in 2008.We should catch the good opportunity for China to show how beautiful, wondreful, great China is.SO,At Last, let’s hope the Olympics can be held well in Betjing.Oh,remember the Olympis spirit,it’s the most important thing for the Olympics!
The 2008 Olympic Game has been the most cheerful and anticipated event throughout Beijing ever since Beijing was rewarded the right to host the 2008 Summer Olympic Games, yet the focus should be shifted from making a promise to fulfilling the promise made.
In my point of view, to bridge the gap between the promise and reality, Beijing still has a long way to go. To begin with, infrastructure construction should be the primary concern. Such infrastructures as communications and transportation system and facilities ought to draw our constant attention. First, traffic jam has been an ageold headache in Beijing. The scene of long queues of vehicles worming their way inch by inch will surely cause great incontinence, and blemish the image of the city meanwhile. Next, to add enchantment to convenience, overall cityplanning is indispensable. Time permitting, a redesign of city layout and adjustment of architectural style would provide a better environment for fostering the characteristic, blending, oriental elegance with international grandeur, will tower aloft among surrounding architectures. To achieve such effect, Beijing shall solicit opinions from firstrate architects and make an overall plan. Thirdly, quality of the population should be improved. To make an international metropolis, both “hardware” and “software” are important.
However, Rome was not built in a day. To carry out the promise of “New Beijing, Great Olympics”, deeds speak louder than words.
