真正发射白光的LED是不存在的。这样的器件非常难以制造,因为LED的特点是只发射一个波长。白色并不出现在色彩的光谱上;一种替代的方法是,利用不同波长合成白色光。 白色发光二极管的发光原理与其它发光二极管的发光原理稍有一点不同。目前有两种发光模式能使发光二极管发出白色光。一种是采用二波长“蓝色光+黄色光”发光模式的白色发光二极管,其基础部分是一颗蓝色发光二极管,在蓝色发光InGaN二极管芯片的外面覆盖一层荧光体层,当蓝色发光二极管芯片发射出来的蓝色光,有一部分在透过荧光体时被荧光体吸收,变成了黄光,黄光又与透过荧光体的蓝光混合后就发出白色光。例如有的白色发光二极管发出的光是纯白的,而有的发出的光是白偏蓝的。 另一种是采用三波长“蓝色光+绿色光+红色光”发光模式的全彩色发光二极管。将红、绿、蓝三颗发光二极管封装在同一个管壳中,三种原色的光混合也可以产生出白光。但是由于制作全彩色发光二极管的成本要相对较高,所以一般不会用全彩色发光二极管来制作照明灯,全彩色发光二极管主要是用来制造全彩色显示屏,用全彩色发光二极管制作照明灯会大大增加产品的成本。 白色发光二极管的正向电压降约为3.5V左右,需要正向工作电流≥15mA左右时,才能使其正常发光。
