　　这首歌曲的内容原是依著一则发生在美国的真实故事写出来的．
　　故事的男主角是一位因经商时在票据上作了手脚而被判服刑三年的男子，在他出狱前夕写了一封信给在乔治亚州的妻子，询问她是否还愿意接纳他．
　　如果愿意的话，请她在他出狱的当天，在他们家门前的那棵老橡树上绑上一条黄丝带．
　　如果他没有看到黄丝带的话，他会留在车上，然后安静地离开．
　　歌词中描述著，在带他返家的巴士上，这位男主角心里那既期待又怕受伤害的纠结，很动人的部分是，当巴士即将行至家的时候，他甚至不敢睁开眼睛来，於是恳请巴士司机帮他探看结果……
