Since the reform and the opening up to the outside world in 1978,the national economy of our country has been developing rapidly,people's lives have been improved a lot.Hower,this causes a problem.The environment is beening polluted seriously.In order to develop economy,lots of factories and restaurants have been set up even in cities.They dump wasted water into rivers,let out poisonous gases into the air everyday.In some areas,many animals,such as fishes,pigs and ducks,die from pollution.The air is polluted so badly in some regions that people could hardly breathe.Therefore,environmental protection is very important.Our government has realized the problem and a pollution-reducing campaign has been launched in order to solve the problem.As individuals,we are supposed to start with small things.For example,we should not use a plastic bag when shopping,we should use both sides of paper,we turn off the light immediately when not using it.We should go out by bus instead of driving a car.Friends,let's take action to do something for environmental protection.

Our modern city is too crowded， and to solve the problem， three proposals are put forward. Most people believe that we should fist practise the policy “Late Marriage” and “One Couple， One Child” in order to reduce the birth rate. Secondly， the city government must have a tight control over rural people entering cities to engage themselves in trade or do various physical jobs so as to lessen the pressure on the city caused by the increased population. Finally more and more people suggest that living blocks with shopping centers， schools， hospitals as well as cinemas and theatres round them or even satellite towns should be built in city suburbs or the countryside round the cities. In this way city citizens will be encouraged to move there to live and work. If these three proposals are well carried out， the city population will be greatly reduced.
